Cisneros Media, the corporate division encompassing the Cisneros’ media and entertainment businesses, announced the appointment of Marcello Coltro as Executive Vice President of Content Distribution. Based out of the corporate headquarters in Miami, Coltro will oversee the company’s Pay-TV and Content Distribution units and report directly to Cisneros Media President Jonathan Blum.
“Marcello brings his television expertise to Cisneros Media, with vast experience in broadcasting, distribution, digital media and marketing. During his career, he’s built an outstanding and solid reputation in the industry, succeeding in multi-cultural markets and securing the development of businesses for sustained growth,” emphasized Jonathan Blum. “In his new role, Marcello will oversee our Pay-TV and content distribution units, focusing on accelerating the growth and maximization of existing sources of revenue, identifying new business opportunities, and fostering the development of strategic partnerships and alliances.”
Prior to joining Cisneros Media, Coltro held key leadership positions in a number of media companies, including MGM Networks Latin America, where he was employed for 15+ years and ultimately occupied the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Earlier in his 20-year career, he worked for Country Music Television (CMT), TVA Brasil and DIRECTV Brasil, in addition to general consumer products and services companies, such as Pizza Hut and Brahma/Inbev.
While at MGM Networks Latin America, Coltro was responsible for the affiliate sales, advertising, programming, marketing, and digital media. He was successful in developing a compelling and profitable portfolio of channels, producing local content, and contributing to the company’s expansion into new markets, such as Portugal, U.S. Hispanic, and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.
Coltro also established productive relationships with important affiliate clients and developed an advertising department by establishing strategic alliances with other media groups. These achievements positioned MGM Networks Latin America as a prominent Pay-TV programmer in the region, resulting in its acquisition by Chellomedia in 2013; which consequently lead to his promotion to Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Coltro is a member of the American Film Institute since 2005 and of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences since 2001. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Communications degree, Coltro holds an executive MBA from Vanderbilt/USP, and enjoyed an academic career for over six years, teaching Strategic Marketing at the business school Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing in Brazil.
