The 24-hour telenovela channel Romanza+Africa has launched in Seychelles on the multi-service cable television operator Intelvision. Appealing to a broad and multi-cultural group of British, French, Chinese, Indian and Seychellois Creole ethnicities, the pay TV channel broadcasting in English is set to be a key subscriptions driver and a major service differentiator in the market.
Romanza+Africa is the result of a partnership between two of the world’s most prominent producers of Hispanic programming, Azteca and Cisneros Media Distribution (CMD), and digital content distributor and premium-themed channel creator AfricaXP.
Home to some of the most successful telenovelas of recent years, Romanza+Africa offers over 3,000 hours of original programming from both CMD’s and Azteca’s vast catalogues. The standalone channel is available through AfricaXP’s multiple digital distribution platforms, offering broadcasters original and compelling romantic stories and worldwide hits.
With a penetration rate of television services that surpasses 70 percent, which is among the highest in the sub-Saharan Africa, Romanza+Africa marks another major milestone with its launch on Intelvision. This is yet another step in the channel’s aggressive expansion in the region, bringing the drama and passion of Latin soap operas to Seychelles’ diverse age and ethnic population.
